We were commissioned to undertake an archaeological evaluation by metal detection and photographic recording as a condition of planning consent for the erection of a drive thru restaurant and associated parking and landscaping, outside Dunblane. The proposed development impacted directly on a section of the designated Sheriffmuir Battlefield (BTL17) and specifically the area over which the Jacobites advanced to engage with the government troops. A photographic record was taken of the site, and two small areas of the site were suitable for metal detection. No archaeological finds were recovered.
